10 years and an Air show!

Thought I would share some pics from our 10-year anniversary dinner and the air show at Seymour Johnson. gotta love the extra chins you acquire in the third trimester of pregnancy! Nathan in his best "I'm the man" pose!

The air show was a blast... it was a hot sunny day, but the breeze was constant. Lots of walking for being 8 mths prego... and although I applied sunscreen 4 times, I still got burnt!

A lot harder to take pics of planes that you think... they are so fast and hard to 'follow' in the sky with the camera.

First time ever going to an air show, he kids enjoyed, would go again!

Forget 'SNAKES ON A PLANE'... I have SNAKE IN THE BUSH! (don't be perverted... I know all of you out there, yes, you were thinking it!)

So yesterday afternoon, I received a phone call from my Mom (whom is deathly afraid of snakes) that while she went to my house to drop something off on the porch... she encountered a DEAD snake in my driveway.

"It was coiled up" she said

"I threw a rock at it, it didn't budge" she said

"It has to be dead" she said

While I appreciated this courtesy call... I also expected to pull in my driveway (not even 2 hours later) to see a coiled up dead snake in my driveway in which the kids would be highly fascinated in, throw things at it, possibly poke it with a stick... and we'd go about our day (leaving it for hubby to pick up and toss later!)

But, there was no snake. Nowhere... I pulled down the driveway very slowly, looking on both sides... in the grass... near the bushes, along the sidewalk... in front of the garage. No snake.

So I parked in the garage, and walked up the front steps... looking again for the "dead" snake. Well, I found the rock that my Mom threw at the "dead" snake... but saw no snake.

OBVIOUSLY THE SNAKE WAS NOT DEAD!

Called my Mom... told her she obviously threw a rock at a very much alive snake... b/c the snake was no longer in my driveway. No worries... went about my afternoon. That was until I decided to get a soda from the garage fridge.

Upon entering the garage... I noticed that Nathan had left the sliding car door wide open, so I closed the door, got my soda from the fridge and proceeded to walk into the house.

That's when I heard (yes, literally HEARD) the slithering of THE snake racing lightning fast out of my garage! I'm pretty sure I grew wings... I have one, never in my life seen a snake move so fast... and two, never in life have I moved so fast!!!

(stop laughing... it's NOT funny!)

Well, knowing the snake was OUT of my garage made me happy... but then my curiosity kicked in, where did the snake actually go I thought. So I went the front porch to look for the snake. I walked down the length of the front porch, leaning over the bushes, looking in... I walked the length of the front sidewalk, bending down to look under the bushes. No snake.

So I scurry indoors... and leave well enough alone. Snakes gone. Mind you, this whole entire time from escaping near death as I had a mini heart attack from seeing the damn thing slither out of the garage... I'm now on the phone with my Mom hyperventilating... still searching for the snake!

Well, I peek out the front door one more time and I see THIS!

WTF???

OMG... seriously... THAT is not part of the freakin' bush! PLEASE tell me you are kidding me! The damn snake was wrapped up in the bush STARRING at me! Literally! I would move from room to room, peering out the windows and he would actually watch me!

ICK!!!!!

So now... as I'm screaming to my Mom on the phone that I'm being stalked by a deadly snake in my bushes... me and the kids are peering out the window starring back at it in complete shock!

It's like he was waiting for us to come outside... literally watching and waiting. I felt like I was in some bad horror movie!!

Ultimately as we watched him, and he watched us... I waited for my husband to come home b/c I wanted that snake GONE! By the time Jared got home... it literally took him over 45 minutes to beat the thing out of the bushes... chase it down the side of the house and back... and pin him with a broom!

NOW WHAT! lol

So, the snake under the broom... was rattling its tail, striking at Jared... while I run to the back shed to get a shovel and hedge clippers!

NOW WHAT? Seriously...

Jared wanted ME to hold the broom down so he could de-head the snake. NUT-UH! Too close for my liking! I tried... but seriously could not do it... WAY too freaked out to be THAT close to it. So, my darling 9 year old daughter to the rescue... YES, Tyler held the broom for Daddy so he could kill it!

Turns out it was a black racer... which are NOT poisonous, but they are extremely fast, like to hide in bushes and once they find a place they like... they like to call it home. Well, MY home was NOT going to be HIS home!

Sorry he's dead (Amy)... really... but after spending the afternoon feeling stalked by the damn thing, having nightmares about it jumping out from underneath my car in the garage... or striking out of the bush to bite the kids as they went past on their bikes... I'm just fine with de-heading a snake! I can't befriend everything in nature... like the damn frog in my sink a few years ago... and those damn jumping spiders that make babies in my mailbox every year! NOT A FAN!

Unless you're going to pay the mortgage... you're not welcome!

10 Years!!!

Still alive...

Lots going on lately... super busy! Still here... still trying to prepare for baby... still running around like a chicken with my head cut off!

Tyler had her 3 week break from school, followed by Easter break... so I've been super busy trying to keep her entertained, still show up for work and running errands, etc.

Easter weekend was fun. Tyler had her friend come over and I took them to see the new Hannah Montana movie... followed by a sleep-over. Sunday we woke up to bunny baskets.. hid our ridiculous amount of eggs and had a little scavenger hunt with prizes!! Nice weather.. good day.
Cooked up a ham, scalloped potatoes, honey & brown sugar carrots and asparagus! YUM!

Didn't feel so well that evening.. and Monday morning I figured out why!
Woke up around 5am in tons of pain.. knew exactly what was going on.. another KIDNEY STONE! Ick!

Took some Tylenol, slept for another hour or so and then woke up again shortly after 7am and knew that I had to go to the hospital.. so I showered, dressed, etc. All that I could stand until the pain was so bad there was no way I was driving myself there... so I called my Mom and off we went. Lucky for me b/c I'm 8 mths pregnant they had to run blood and urine tests and get the results back BEFORE giving me meds.. well, over 2 hours of excruciating pain... I passed the damn thing by myself without getting those meds!

Basically I gave birth to a rock! Kidney stones are usually sand like granules and this was about the the size of those little beans in green beans! Ouch... let's just say I really rather would have been in labor!!
Which... in about 71/2 weeks.. that's where I'll be!

So back to the hospital yesterday... but this time for GOOD reasons! CONGRATULATIONS to Tonya and Curtis, their darling baby boy, Kenneth Jackson was born Wednesday, April 15th at 8:20pm.

A short story... catching up

Tyler's State meet went well, as for her performances that is.

Can't say the same for her leotard! The day before the meet, I had sent Tyler up to her room to start on her chores.. cleaning up, putting away clean laundry, etc. Her leotard was nicely folded in a basket of clothes to put away, I reminded her to set it out on her dresser for the next day along with her sweatsuit. I left her to do her chores and went downstairs with Nathan... no more than 3 minutes could have passed.. literally... when all of the sudden I hear her screaming and crying. She's running down the stairs holding her leotard!

I think to myself, I'm the one who washed it... and hung it to dry. Then folded it.. and I JUST saw it upstairs, still folded. What in the world could have happened to it since then?

Well, just take a look for yourself...

Oh yes... she decided that it was wrinkled and it needed to be ironed! Okay... so I know your first thought... NO, we don't let Tyler iron clothes! Why she felt compelled to do this on her own, I will NEVER know! She was devastated!! You can't see it, but the one edge has a huge hole in it too!

So... Mom to the rescue... I went straight o JoAnn Fabrics and got the same material and quickly made a fake sleeve to pull over top of it! (This material is SO hard to work with, and I'm using a very old sewing machine.. wasn't about to brave making a whole new REAL sleeve!!)

But it worked.. nobody even knew the difference!! :)

And it didn't affect her skills.. she was the only one from her team to place and brought home 4 more medals! Whoo-hoo!

So, the Baby's room. I've REALLY been into orange and yellow this year. So, the baby's room is orange! Well, Baked Squash to be exact! I love it. Looks good. We will have all white furniture in there which will help tone it down. The bedding is kind of vintage looking, but I love it. It's an old Pottery Barn line called Eliza. Found in on Ebay.. great deal. I'll be excited to piece it all together (still need to get a crib). We're having another bookshelf made like in Tyler's room, and taking her old dresser and putting into the baby's room. We're ordering Tyler a bigger dresser to replace her old one. So all of this should be done in the next 4-5 weeks. Hoping to have the room completely set up before she arrives.. although she'll be sleeping in the bassinet in our room for the first couple of months anyway.

Already have some cutie clothes picked out, already washed and hanging in the closet, waiting.

Need to finish working on my bird mobile. (another thing I'm really into, birds and owls) Found this on-line, decided to do it in all yellows and white. Can't wait to piece the room together.
Want to find a hanging beaded lamp for the room with either white or pale yellow beads. Something girlie.

Took the day off yesterday... Amy came over to hang out with us. Being 7 mths pregnant and not able to really reach my toes, at least comfortably that is! We went to get pedicures!! I haven't had one since Heather's wedding.. it was nice to let someone else do all the work!

We were going to take the kids swimming at the Y... but the changed their policy and you have to have a member bring you in. So.. we picked Nathan up from preschool and took them to go see Monsters VS Aliens! Really cute movie.

Tyler only has one more day of her break before heading back to school! But lucky her.. then she turned around and gets a 4-day weekend for Easter break!!
