Weekend Cookout & random stuff...

Well HELLO, a whole week later! Thought I'd share some pictures from the weekend. We ended up having a cookout Sunday complete with good food, fun yard games and more! Couldn't have asked for better weather... a perfect day to be outside!

So that was the weekend in brief, had a very good time...and other than that did a whole lot of nothing the rest of the time!

Also, as my children have yet to disobey me, not eat their dinner, get out of bed 20 times plus (despite many threats), torture one another, etc. all resulting in annoying me... I have, in the works... a fabulous little chart that will display whatever privileged item they take for granted that I choose to take away from them for the week, perhaps even longer! So, basically it will be a reminder for them (and me as well, b/c I have more often than not thrown out a punishment or two ...here and there... and not even half way into the week, completely forget and thus my children still misbehave!!) that they have lost this because they have chosen to do that! I'll be posting a picture later this week to give you a better idea of how I plan for this nifty little chart to work! Wish me luck, as it's either THIS... or shipping my children to the nearest zoo for someone else to deal with their behavioral problems and have food thrown at them!

Meet Cookie!

Okay... now I realize this is no two headed turtle....but this is the little bundle of joy that survived Jared's lawn mowing last Saturday afternoon and stayed for the weekend! Little Cookie had a variety of homes, one by the deck overlooking the yard with a fabulous view of the play set...another one positioned on the half wall indoors where Cookie could not only see the TV but also had the pleasure of watching us eat dinner right in front of her! And last but not least a giant cardboard box home filled with mud, weeds, dead bugs, half pieces of worm (lets not forget the blueberry that Nathan fished out of his yogurt to share with Cookie!) and a wading pool! What a luxury mini-vacation from the wild this little gal had after nearly being sucked into the vortex of blades that crossed over her just hours before!!! Shweeeew!

Little Cookie!

So... that was fun! My past weekend also included a trade off. One tray of O'Henry's in exchange for a fabulous tray of spinach and artichoke dip made by Aaron! YUM-O!! The best stuff ever...with grilled bread, yum, yum, yum!!!

And of course, we ended up having a great dinner... Aaron made Cuban Burgers...All sorts of yummy stuff go into making them, such as a spread including mayo, Dijon, roasted garlic... some Swiss cheese, ham, pickles... all smashed on an onion bun and grilled with bricks! DeLicIouS!!! So....that and playing tons of frisbee well into the dark of the night... about wraps up my past weekend. Looking forward to an extended weekend... good company, good food..good times!

Seems as though our storms around here have become more intense and packing a punch! Thankfully nothing bad in my neighborhood... however check out how some of the other counties fared...

Hail storm

Some pretty nasty storms rolling through...couple of unconfirmed tornadoes and lots of damage! Usually we have those fabulous NC mountains to tame and break up all of the bad weather that drifts over from TX to TN... but not this time.

Well...

I've decided I need to chat... blab a little. About what you ask?? Does she possibly have something interesting to say?? Well, NO... not really. Just bored. I think that's my problem lately... I'm literally bored. Feel like I have nothing great to do with my time, my days... the passing weeks. BORING.

Maybe it's because on some level I'm expecting something fun to happen... or want something to occur spontaneously... out of the blue, not the norm. Hum!

When really it's just same old everyday...

show up at work

maybe actually work

play on the Internet

find things to work on, and then choose not to work on them b/c I don't want to

stress over the economy killing our business, lack of work... housing market, etc.

fuel prices... mostly diesel, my god can it get any higher...

after school activities

ponder over the all time American household nightly question "what's for dinner?"

eat

kids to bed

watch pointless hours of TV, maybe fold laundry or sit and stare in my scrap room

off to bed

WASH....RINSE...AND REPEAT! LOL

So it's Tuesday... Tuesday's are boring too!

Funny thing is, I complain about being bored when I'm running the normal everyday routine... always on the go.. seems like there's always something to do (not things I necessarily want to be doing).... But when it's not there to be done, then I am TRULY bored. So I guess I'm just in serious need of a vacation, any place other than here to look at... that I know all too well is not financially possible, meaning SO not in my near future!! But oh well...I shall survive! I always do...

That fabulous SOY Contest I've been talking about... yeah, SO not going to make the deadline on that one. I've done maybe 5 layouts... need to submit at least 20, by May 29th. Not going to happen. So... that gives me a whole year to work on it for next years contest... now that's a deadline I can work with! LOL

And something random, it seems as though the new 'hot summer look' for your feet is roman sandals... I'm hoping nobody agrees... b/c EWH! I just can't even imagine wearing these things unless I was going to a costume party!

Honestly.... DO NOT GET IT! But.. hey to each their own!! Whatever floats your boat... after all it's not like I haven't been caught wearing some pretty weird shit myself! But these get the double ICK from me! LOL

Well, that's enough ramble from me in one day. I'll be posting pics of the lovely palm sized turtle (actually a little smaller than that) I found in the yard over the weekend, "Cookie" was our weekend house guest... we let her go find her family last night as the kids waved a sad goodbye!

Yeah I know.. I've really been slacking on this whole bloggin' deal! But, I will offer no excuses (simply b/c I know that maybe 2 people actually refer to this blog to be let down daily as they see that I am just as boring as they originally thought, or that I don't even take the time to post!) so I will just say... I'm here, I'm alive... just nothing worth saying lately!

Well that sounds nice and depressing doesn't it! When my life perks back up or I simply have a random brain fart that I feel is worthy of the Internet readers... I will be back. For now.. I still feel as if I have nothing interesting or witty enough to share! I mean how often do you want to hear that my daughter had a soccer game or a birthday party to go to... and that's about all I've been up to (or she rather... I'm just along for the ride!)
