Caller 103!

So my sister is a John Mayer FREAK! And the radio station is giving away tickets to a private "listener lounge" event hosting 150 lucky souls! I have to admit even I (not being the John Mayer Freak) would like to go... acoustic guitar, small setting... good music. Well, I'm not a lucky person by nature... the last thing I have won was a pack of stickers at a scrapbooking convention 3 years ago and prior to that it was a life size stuffed animal bunny for an Easter coloring contest at Kerr Drugs when I was 7! I don't WIN things!

But today, I was in the car driving back into the office from lunch and decided to call in when prompted! You had to be caller 105. So I called... and called.... send, end, send, end on my cell phone.. many, many times! Finally, ringing... "your caller number 91" the voice said.

"@!$%" I said.

Send....end.....send...end... again. And again... "your called number 1.... 0..... THREE!" the voice said.

"#%*@ ...#&$% ....!#*@" I said.

Immediately called my sister... she was caller 104!!!

Someone please tell me the odds!!!!!!!! So that was my excitement for a Monday! A couple more hours to go til the next call in... and then 3 times a day for the rest of the week.... wish us luck!

Besides that...

Weekend was good. Saturday we had dinner with Aaron and Amy... some rita's, gourmet burgers...followed by some watermelon (have been craving some w a t e r m e l o n!) Sunday went to visit my sister in VA.. had a great time.

Tomorrow Sheila and I go to our scrap class to complete an acrylic album, very excited about that!

Have been keeping up on the Olympics... Phelps is simply amazing... and we've been routing for the US Gymnastics Girls... Liukin and Johnson!

Field Trip Success!

Hanging Rock, NC

Okay.... so I'll be honest. I'm a very paranoid mother (my full belief is I have reason to be, others may disagree) so when I heard about the field trip to Hanging Rock I was not overly excited. Of course, I chimed right in to be a volunteer! But, for the first time ever was told "thanks, but no thanks!"

I'll explain:

This was supposed to be a trip meant for Tyler's class only. But once the word got out, the whole 4th grade wanted to go! Okay fine. Well, Tyler's class had 7 chaperone's volunteer for this trip. And the response was, each teacher was only allowed 2 per class. However, Tyler's teacher requested 3 b/c she had such a great response to attend the trip. Ask and you shall receive... she even chose 4! And so you're thinking.. great! NOT SO MUCH... I was not one of the four "chosen ones". So... I had a mission... to through a fit and get my way!

To make a long story short... I won my battle and thus, Tyler's class had 5 chaperone's! Great, given there's only 15 kids in the class! Funny thing is at this point, after all my persistence to attend, you would think I would have been happy! WRONG.

I'm not the "outdoorsy" type... and the thought of being with 60 4th graders on a 2 hour bus ride... hiking a mile and a half to be on the top of a mountain rock that hangs 200 ft. over nothing.... followed by swimming in a lake...and another 2 hour ride back, totalling a 12 hour long day.............................................................................

NEED I SAY MORE?

So... I begged and pleaded with my husband to take my place. But was turned down at every single offer I could throw at him. "You fought to go... you're the one going!" he said! And, I suppose he was right... if I was going to bitch and moan about having my presence to ease my own insecurities about her safety... then I should witness it all myself!
And I must say... I was glad I did! Not only was it the most beautiful day ever.. weather was near perfect! But it was a great trip!! Glad I went. Tyler's teacher was way more organized than I expected...and safety was always a top concern.

Just the fact that I was up at the crack of dawn, hiked a mountian in tennis shoes (that's right...but I did take my flip flops to change into, LOL) and swam in a lake with fishies bitting my butt... was an accomplishment in it's self! HOORAY!

Normally....

I'm not a fan of time flying by, wondering what happened to weeks, months or years that have past so quickly. However... this week has gone by so fast it's as if it didn't exist! And all I can say to that is WHOO HOOO it's FRIDAY!
So ready for my weekend. Not a single plan in the books, just a small obligation to swim lessons otherwise I'm free as a bird! So, what to do?
Thinking that I might finish a scrap project or two.. clean my closet (completely overdue!) and veg a little. I've been needing some veg time!
I'll try and get some pics of the project Sheila and I did at our scrap class last Sunday. Very cute 6 x 12 album.. I love it. So glad we went. Have another class scheduled for completing an acrylic album, super excited about that too!

In other news, yesterday I received a phone call from my son's preschool letting me know that he was bitten, AGAIN by a student in his class. Last week it was his face... this week was his stomach! The first bite left no mark. The second bite however (although bitten over top of his shirt) left a very nasty bite mark, bleeding and all!
The only thing that has stopped me from causing bodily harm to this little boy who sees it fit to taste every child in his classroom is the fact that he has been permanently removed from preschool! BYE BYE NOW!
In all honesty I've always thought this boy looked a little bit "evil"... I have been hearing lots of things about him (all negative of course) in the past few weeks. Even to the point of Nathan saying he wanted to go back to the class he moved up from back in April. Needless to say, I'm glad the problem has been solved, just hoping that this bite mark doesn't leave permanent scaring... to the skin, or to Nathan!

Tyler and I are gearing up fro a fun field trip on Monday, have to be ready to leave out by 6:30AM... for a 12 hour day with 60 children! WISH ME LUCK!
Did I say I have plans for the weekend... SLEEPING more likely!

I know you missed me!

Okay... so mid-July or Aug 1st! Whichever... I was close enough!

I'm going to try this thing called BLOGGIN' again! Can't say I'll be better at it than I was before... but I figured I'd give it a go, it's here!

So, my "lots going on" was full of many things. Keeping it brief, we spent a lot of time in FL to be with family; my brother-in-law passed away in a very bad accident involving his career. Came home and went right back out of town to spend some time at the beach with my Dad & friends(who came down from WI). Then it was trying to get "back to normal"... both kids started up swim lessons, Tyler started school and I had 2 weeks to put together her backyard carnival party!

This with the occasional addition of work crap (ie. stress, lack of work, overdue bills, etc.), cable service calls, torn muscles, colds, ear infections, sty's, chigger bites (that's a southern thing) and migraines... it's kind of kept me away from sharing the glorious days of my fabulous life with all of you!

And as my fabulous life would go... I have nothing much to share in the time I've been away, so I'll keep it simple and share some party pics.

Getting some scrappin' done this weekend with Sheila... even catching a class at our LSS (Local Scrapbook Store)! Should be tons of fun, will be sure to share my fab. creations!!

Lots going on...

I will be out of town for quite a while, look for me around Mid-July.. but I will be back!

Yup.... I've got it!

It's always a PLUS and a MINUS isn't it!!!! That's it... they cancel each other out. That's my life... One good... one bad... screw it... nothings changed than has it... I mean REALLY!!!

Okay... well that's totally random, but I'm okay with that!

Summer came early!

Yet again in NC it's been 102' for the past several days and it's not even officially Summer. If this is even a mere sign of what Summer is going to be like.. I'm not overly excited about it!

Well both of my chickens are still learning to swim. So.. with the current heat wave, we've decided to hit the pool early and get a head start!! Swim lessons are set for later in the Summer, but I have to say....at this rate they might already know how to swim before lessons even begin!

Nathan was ALL about Aunt Heather and after 2 trips to the pool in the same day...he was swimming by himself (well, with the help of his swimmies...but still!) Tyler has been becoming quite brave and going under water a lot! Just last night she was 'swimming' under water with no swimmies on!

No fear of the water going on here.... HELLO SUMMER!
